Old High Street, 1914.

Old High Street, c1934.

In the photo circa 1934 the house just beyond the Kings Arms (97) is my grandparent's house and shop, Toyland. The house next to the Bull (94) was my parent's house, which was also a shop, The Dolls Hospital. The dormer window was my bedroom, what a great picture. The large opening by the Bull led to a courtyard in which was a beer garden. At the rear on the right side was a blacksmith and we would often go there as children to watch him shoe the local tradesmens horses.-part of a letter from Gino Reeve who emigrated to Australia in 1950 with his family.
