Fire at the Queens Hotel, September 1890.

    The Queens Hotel was situated at the northern end of the "new" Grays High Street

     The Queens was built by the Seabrooke Brewery in 1888 and was regarded as their flagship premises, it remained trading up until the middle 1970's but was demolished during the redevelopment of the area.

 

This is a photo taken of my grandad Bill Tapsell who worked for the Queens Hotel when it got flooded and he did the clean up, this picture was in the gazette but i can't remember the date. - letter from Linda Spicer, Grays.
